That's why Bison Innovative Products has **elevated our rooftop game** with a revolutionary artificial turf system that brings together three decades of proven performance in one integrated solution. #### **The Foundation of Great Design: What's Underneath Matters** The secret to long-lasting rooftop installations isn't just the turf you see; it's the engineered foundation beneath it. Our new Artificial Turf System combines Bison's industry-leading pedestals with Fibergrate's industrial-grade fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) Micro-Mesh® molded grating and high-performance commercial turf, creating the only single-source solution that delivers proven components from established manufacturers. #### **What makes this system stand apart?** - **Bison Pedestals**: Supporting up to 1,250 lbs (FoS:3) per pedestal with heights up to 36 inches, compatible with all Bison pedestal systems - **Fibergrate Micro-Mesh® Grating**: 1½" corrosion-resistant, lightweight, non-conductive, and UV-resistant foundation that prevents water pooling - **Commercial-Grade Synthetic Turf**: Optimal drainage, durability, and anti-microbial properties that stand up to heavy use #### **A Partnership That's Been Growing for Years** Bison and Fibergrate haven't just joined forces; we've been collaborating on successful installations for years, and now we're formalizing this proven approach. Take our Grand Rapids. MI project, where we created a rooftop pet area for a family-owned cleaning company's "bring your pet to work" initiative. The challenge? Michigan's harsh climate, chemical resistance for pet areas, and lightweight materials that wouldn't compromise the roof structure. Our Vi-Corr® Micro-Mesh® grating with Bison pedestals delivered the perfect solution—resistant to acids, lightweight enough for rooftop installation, and designed to prevent water stagnation that could cost thousands in long-term repairs.  [![case study video Rooftop Dog Park](https://blog.bisonip.com/hs-fs/hubfs/case%20study%20video.png?width=534&height=304&name=case%20study%20video.png)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiPv7234PZA) In Scottsdale, Arizona, we tackled a different challenge: a resort-style rooftop pool deck for a luxury apartment complex. The landscape architecture firm needed lightweight materials that could handle pool chemicals, drain effectively, and support turf around the pool area. Our Micro-Mesh® molded FRP grating with meniscus surface and Bison pedestals provided sturdy support while allowing water to flow through, creating a maintenance-free solution that keeps both residents and property managers happy. Our integrated approach accommodates complex rooftop conditions while delivering industrial-grade durability. The chemical-resistant FRP grating withstands heavy traffic and harsh weather, while the open Micro-Mesh® design maximizes airflow and prevents the water pooling that can compromise roof structures. Whether you're designing slip-resistant pool decks, comfortable employee break areas, or destination entertainment venues, this system gives you the design flexibility you need with the performance reliability your clients demand. ![PEDESTAL-TURF-HIGH-END-PENTHOUSE-RESIDENTIAL POOL-TURF](https://blog.bisonip.com/hs-fs/hubfs/PEDESTAL-TURF-HIGH-END-PENTHOUSE-RESIDENTIAL-POOL-TURF.jpg?width=3840&height=2160&name=PEDESTAL-TURF-HIGH-END-PENTHOUSE-RESIDENTIAL-POOL-TURF.jpg) #### **The Bottom Line: Simplicity Meets Performance** Rooftop spaces are becoming premium amenities, and you need systems that deliver both beauty and lasting performance. Our Artificial Turf System lets you focus on creating stunning designs while we handle the technical details that make those designs last. With 30+ years of established performance from both Bison and Fibergrate, you're not just getting innovative products, you're getting peace of mind. One source, proven reliability, and turn-key installation that elevates your projects to the next level. *Ready to take your rooftop projects higher? Plans/designs for a rooftop deck should be reviewed by a safety/structural engineer before commencing construction. The roof must be able to safely carry the static and live load weights of the rooftop deck, and any amenities added along with the appropriate density of any insulation to resist crushing and damaging the waterproof membrane. Adding items such as hardscaping features, hot tubs, or pools to a rooftop deck requires additional guidance and oversight from an engineer. Property owners should research and abide by any building codes and other regulations to obtain the required permits prior to having a rooftop deck installed. Please read all product specifications posted on Bisonip.com to review all information prior to any installation.* Share - - - ### About the Author[Bison IP Team](https://blog.bisonip.com/author/bison-ip-team) [prev](https://blog.bisonip.com/5-reasons-exterior-wood-tile-systems-wins-in-pop-up-park-projects?hsLang=en) [Next](https://blog.bisonip.com/best-material-for-deck-systems-that-are-easy-to-install-and-maintain?hsLang=en) ### Posts by Topic - [Rooftop Decks (63)](https://blog.bisonip.com/tag/rooftop-decks) - [Green Roofs (37)](https://blog.bisonip.com/tag/green-roofs) - [Rooftop Deck Ideas (35)](https://blog.bisonip.com/tag/rooftop-deck-ideas) - [Biophilic Design (21)](https://blog.bisonip.com/tag/biophilic-design) - [Planters (8)](https://blog.bisonip.com/tag/planters) ### Recent Posts ![feature image](https://blog.bisonip.com/hubfs/Calculating%20Rooftop%20ROI%20for%20Luxury%20Hospitality%20-%20Main%20Blog%20image-2.jpg) [Calculating Rooftop ROI for Luxury Hospitality](https://blog.bisonip.com/calculating-rooftop-roi-for-luxury-hospitality?hsLang=en) July 15, 2026 ![feature image](https://blog.bisonip.com/hubfs/streamingcafe_1.jpg) [Designing a Rooftop Deck?
